BACKSTAGE MAKE-UP TRENDS
London’s interpretations were typically controversial; off kilter colour, structure, technique and mood prevailed. Pops of vivid colour, tone on tone “grooming” makeup and a unanimous feeling for transparently minimalist skin.
Backstage in Paris things were still looking towards those Spring/Summer 2010 Essentials of sheer skin, gloss texture, bleached and brushed-up brows…
Take the futuristic face accessories at MANISH ARORA. The memorable moments came with artists pushing inspiration and execution to the max: taking a classic UNGARO fuchsia red lip but revolutionizing its texture with a mix of pigment and powders.”
Familiar themes seen in New York and London were evident in the Milan shows…Fresh skin, glossy cheekbones an air of easy attitude on the ‘dark’ side of quirky…such as the rocked up Courtney Love vibe at JUST CAVALI, make up that swung from purely pretty to punky.
Espinet showcased his artistry on two local models: Latoya L. Woods and Christy Ann Motee. Christy Ann was in trend with fresh skin, whereas Latoya’s makeup reflected that pop of colour. The models also showcased two local designers, with Kristy Ann wearing a classic Meiling silhouette and Latoya wearing a vibrant Claudia Pegus off the shoulder piece from her new collection.
Espinet discussed up-coming Fall Collections such as Fabulous Felines, as well as MAC’s new 15 hour dramatic wear Mascara - Bad, Bad, Black now in MAC stores across the Caribbean. Espinet explained that MAC had some more exciting collections coming up for Fall/Winter 2010 and the Caribbean market should look out for new make up innovations at their local MAC stores!
